Handcrafted porcelain vessels

Balance, integrity and elegance coupled with earthy, nature and fun. Those are the attributes that I seek to achieve in the pottery that I make. There’s something very basic and natural about working with clay. Or maybe my attraction is reminiscent of making mud pies as a child. Whatever it is, the feeling of accomplishment that I get when I tackle and conquer a particular form is well worth the time spent.

Recently, I’ve begun drawing floral landscapes in the round on the vessel surface. Each flower is selected based on its character, spunk, and attitude – basically its very own personality. The idea is that collectively they become a community that interacts not only with each other, but also with the form, the pot’s surface, and finally the finishing glaze.

These handcrafted objects are intended to enrich the living environment and elicit moments of joy. Life is a collection of moments. Joy weaves in and out of those moments. Ceramic wares have been a part of peoples lives forever. Clay vessels remind us of the abundance. Beautifully crafted handmade utilitarian vessels with expressive form and richness of surface offer the viewer a plethora of joys.
